Musical Instruments

**To change the music your Sims play, read this.**
Instructions: Place all .skn, .cmx, .bmp, and .cfp files directly in the GameData/Skins folder (never use sub-folders in the skins folder). Place the .iff file in the GameData/UserObjects or Downloads folder.

The Violin
This violin can be played by either adults or children. It plays the violin music that comes with Hot Date. It is cloned from the guitar, so unlike some of the other violins out there, other Sims can watch the player, and clap or boo, accordingly. Sorry, only one version available at this time.
Requirements: Livin'Large and Hot Date
Download Violin plays Hot Date violin music
The Saxophone
Saxophone comes in four versions. Version one is the solo sax. It plays the Saxophone music from Unleashed. Version two plays jazz/latin music. Version three plays classical music, and version four plays rock music. All Sims will play like experts on all four versions, no matter what their level of expertise. Versions two, three, and four include new animations for kids; kids can play version one, but it isn't recommended.
Requirements: Livin'Large and Unleashed
Download version one-saxophone music.
Download version two jazz/latin music.
Download version three classical music.
Download version four rock music.
The Double Bass
Bass comes in three versions. Version one has been hacked to play classical music. Version three plays jazz/latin music. The third version plays the same music as the electric guitar; All Sims will play beautiful music on versions one and two, no matter what their level of expertise.
*Double bass can be played by children, but it isn't recommended.
Requirements: Livin'Large
Download version one- classical music (plays with bow)
Download version two- jazz/latin music (plays without bow)
Download version three- plays electric guitar sounds (plays without bow)
The Cello
Cello comes in two versions. The first version plays the same music as the electric guitar; version two has been hacked to play classical music. All Sims will play beautiful music on version two no matter what their level of expertise.
Requirements: Livin'Large
Download version one- plays electric guitar
Download version two- classical music
Updated Feb 3, 2003:
A stand has been added to the bottom of the cello, and cello has been re-cloned from a Pre-Unleashed version of the electric guitar, because some people were not able to use the cello due to an expansion conflict. The new cello only requires Livin'Large. Also the name of the animation has been shortened to take care of the missing animation problem some people were having.
**Sim Host subscribers can download the update files seperatly for free.**
Download stand only- if you already have a cello that is working in your game.
Download updated version one (includes stand, animation, and Livin'Large iff)
Download updated version two (includes stand, animation, and Livin'Large iff)

Change Your Sounds to More Realistic Music
If you would like your instruments to sound more realistic there are a few simple steps that you can take yourself. First you will need to download Eli Sims to make things extra simple.

Now select the "Classical" folder by clicking on it. (For Jazz/Latin instruments select the "Latin" folder.)
Click on the "Add" button and search your hard drive for you favorite mp3 files.
Once you have located the song you would like to place in the folder, just double click on it, and it will add it to your classical music play list.
